Not only does the new label realistically showcase the way we eat today, it allows consumers to make more informed decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The updated label features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"checkmark-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>a refreshed design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>updated information about nutrition science including the link between diet and chronic diseases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>updates to serving sizes and labeling requirements for certain package sizes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The FDA\u2019s extended compliance dates for the Nutrition Facts and Supplement Facts are now upon us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"checkmark-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>January 1, 2020 \u2013 Manufacturers with $10 million or more in annual food sales<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>January 1, 2021- Manufacturers with less than $10 million in annual food sales<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-review-what-s-new\">A Review: What\u2019s New?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The new labels have a greater focus on calories and serving size, new information indicating how much sugar is added, as well as an increased focus on nutrients that many Americans need more of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"checkmark-list wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Servings:<\/strong>&nbsp;Servings per container and serving size are in a larger and bolder type. Serving sizes have also been updated to reflect what people eat and drink today.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Calories:<\/strong>&nbsp;Calories are now in larger and bolder type.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use % Daily Value as a Guide:<\/strong>&nbsp;The Daily Values for nutrients have been updated based on new scientific evidence. The Daily Values are reference amounts of nutrients to consume or not to exceed each day (for adults and children 4 year of age and older) and are used to calculate the % Daily Value.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Choose Nutrients Wisely:<\/strong>&nbsp;The nutrients that are required on the label have been updated. Added Sugars, Vitamin D, and potassium are now required on the label.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check out the Ingredient List:<\/strong>&nbsp;Even though the ingredient list is not part of the Nutrition Facts label, it is also a helpful tool. Ingredients are listed in descending order by weight, so the ingredient that weighs the most is listed first, and the ingredient that weighs the least is listed last.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-power-your-product-content-transparency-and-supply-chain-efficiency\">Power Your Product Content Transparency and Supply Chain Efficiency<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the risks tied to non-compliant labeling include supply chain disruption, product recalls, penalties, and damaged brand reputation.
