SUCCESS STORY
Coop Norge, one of Norway’s biggest stores, has made a big step toward improving their data processes and quality. Coop Norge has successfully leveraged the Syndigo platform as their full MDM-first backbone which has been implemented by Advellence.
Founded in 1906, Coop Norge has grown from a small cooperative society to a leading retail cooperative with over 2 million members and a network of 1,227 stores across Norway. Their mission is to provide high-quality products at competitive prices while promoting sustainable practices and social responsibility. This vision aligns with their core values of cooperation, trust, and sustainability, which drive their long-term strategy and operational excellence.
Coop’s Grocery Retail business is vast, with many different chain names. This presented several challenges in their data management processes: The need for a more flexible and strong system to handle future changes — like environmental, social, governmental (ESG) like the decision for the Digital Product Passport (DPP) — was important. Also, their legacy systems were becoming outdated, causing inconsistent data quality from external sources that took significant time and effort to correct.
To overcome these challenges, Advellence implemented Syndigo as full Master Data Management (MDM) for Coop Norge. The initial scope was to migrate from SAP Master Data Governance. Coop Norge can now create both buy and sell views in their Syndigo MDM, seamlessly streamlining the flow of data from data pools and data onboarding to syndication to downstream systems.
The implementation of Syndigo’s MDM solution has brought multiple benefits to Coop Norge. Syndigo’s comprehensive multi-domain solution has played a significant role in Coop Norge’s sustainable digitization strategy, and Syndigo made a significant contribution to Coop Norge’s development.
Coop was able to achieve:
Prior to rolling out the new system, the teams encountered a few substantial hurdles. A primary concern was the uneven quality of data received from external sources, which demanded extensive time and effort to rectify. Moreover, Coop Norge’s legacy systems were becoming obsolete and due for an upgrade to enhance operational efficiency. Finally, it was essential to build a scalable and flexible infrastructure to support future initiatives like ESG and DPP, ensuring our readiness for upcoming changes.
A key feature that helped Coop Norge is Syndigo’s flexible data model, which allows for seamless integration and management of various data types. Syndigo’s business rule automation, end-user workflows, and data quality reports also have greatly enhanced Coop Norge’s data management processes.
Syndigo’s Gold Partner, Advellence, made the implementation of Syndigo’s MDM solution possible. Their expertise and innovative design met Coop Norge’s specific needs and ensured high-quality outcomes. Advellence’s strategic consultancy played a pivotal role in designing a robust solution that aligned with Coop’s data management goals. Their agile project management approach and transparent communication ensured a successful implementation.
The collaboration between Advellence and Syndigo has resulted in an advanced MDM solution that has positioned Coop Norge for future growth and innovation. Coop Norge now has a scalable path to improve data quality and processes. This helps the company to fulfill its mission of being the preferred choice for consumers by continuously enhancing the shopping experience and supporting local communities.
