GTIN

A GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is a globally recognized identifier used to uniquely distinguish products in commerce and supply chains.

What is GTIN (Global Trade Item Number)?

A GTIN is a numeric code used to identify trade items worldwide. Created and managed under GS1 GTIN Standards, they ensure consistent product identification across systems, retailers, and marketplaces. They are essential for barcode scanning, inventory tracking, and digital shelf accuracy.

GTINs are a foundational element for data compliance and syndication, especially within the GDSN (Global Data Synchronization Network). They are required by many major retailers for product listings and search optimization.

Syndigo supports GTIN creation and validation through its GS1-certified data pool. The Syndigo Product Experience Cloud integrates GTINs as part of a broader product data integration strategy—ensuring accurate, real-time sharing of GTINs and other unique product identifiers across the supply chain and retail marketplace.
